Synopsis

A Dog Barking at the Moon by Lisa Zi Xiang - UK Premiere

Returning with her Western husband to her broken family in Beijing, pregnant writer Huang Xiaoyu finds herself trapped between her cult brainwashed mother and her secretly homosexual father, as other secrets slowly come to light. A painfully honest family drama, this is a rich and radical directorial debut that partly fictionalises director Xiang Zi’s own family life and conflicts.

Feature running time: 107 min
