We continue our commitment #WomenInFilm2018 with our season “Her Name Is…” which will see us screen films centred on her.

Our partnership with Orbital Comics continues with screenings of classic films to celebrates the art of comic books. This time we present the Henry Selick's adaptation of Neil Gaiman's CORALINE introduced by Orbital Comics' Amy Garvey.

Amy Garvey is a comics critic and former co-host of The Orbiting Pod, the comics review Podcast of Eisner award winning Orbiting Comics. She can often be found under the nearest blanket, reading a book by flashlight.

While exploring her new home, a girl named Coraline discovers a secret door, behind which lies an alternate world that closely mirrors her own but, in many ways, is better. She rejoices in her discovery, until Other Mother and the rest of her parallel family try to keep her there forever. Coraline must use all her resources and bravery to make it back to her own family and life.

#WomenInFilm2018 is presented in association with Birds Eye View, Hackney Wicked Women, WFTV, F-Rated, Bechdel Test Fest, Cinesisters, and #genesisters. As part of this year-long season we'll be screening films that have: a female director/co-director, a female writer/co-writer, or a strong/iconic female lead.
