Synopsis

As a finale to Scalarama 2018 in London, Genesis is proud to present a weekend of non-stop exploding cinema. 9 fantastic films – many of which may be new to you – in the tradition of midnight movies and the Scala’s legendary marathons, selected for you by the films fans’ film fans: Kim Newman, Edgar Wright and Julia Marchese. There’ll be a Q+A on Friday with Kim and our special guest curator from the USA, Julia.

Edgar:

“Make no mistake: this is not a great movie. It’s frequently campy, nearly always in poor taste, laugh out loud weird in several scenes and YET… it has some memorably creepy moments that stick with you. I can’t write the film off as it has images that resonate and gets into a groove that produces some genuine creeps. A bonkers cast and a premise so good, they ripped it off wholesale in ‘Ghostbusters’. Please enjoy and remember: ‘Black and White Cat, Black and White Cake!'”

A New York City model with a troubled past, Alison Parker decides to make some changes in her life. Breaking up with her boyfriend, Michael, Alison relocates to an apartment in a brownstone building where the only other tenant is a withdrawn blind priest. After experiencing strange occurrences, Alison begins to realize why the holy man is present -- the building has an evil presence that must be kept in check at all costs.

Tickets are £50 for a weekend pass, £24 for the Saturday ‘Edgar Wright’s stuff’ special, or £10 / £7.50 [students / concessions] for each film.
