We have launched the Indie Film Showcase to do what we love best -- bringing incredible short genre films from hugely talented filmmakers, to the wonderful UK horror community.

And the latest trend? A living embalnment, where teenage girls, for their Sweet 16, emerge from a sparkling coffin instead of a giant cake.
But when an eccentric mortician, trapped under the patriarchal thumb of her controlling boss, accidentally kills a client, she sees a twisted chance to escape. As the clock ticks, she plots her way out by stealing “the face” from the client, but not before giving the dead girl the most bizarrely beautiful makeover of her afterlife. This insightful documentary follows two friends whose lives have been shaped by Indian Sign Language (ISL) in markedly different ways: a Deaf woman raised in a hearing family, and her hearing friend who grew up as a Child of Deaf Adults (CODA). Through intimate conversations and reflections from Deaf and queer communities, the film explores how visual language can reshape our understanding of autonomy, care, identity, and belonging. Interwoven with evocative animation by artist Pakhi Sen, it challenges conventional notions of deafness, communication, and listening. In a landmark first for Indian cinema, the film also features an original ISL poem by a Deaf poet.

William Castle’s personal PSYCHO clone, HOMICIDAL is one of the maestro’s twistiest films and deeply indebted to his other horror inspo, Henri-Georges Clouzot’s sublime LES DIABOLIQUES (1955). The story follows a mysterious young woman in a small California town whose presence unearths secrets concerning a prominent local family. For this rare presentation, Token Homo will recreate the film’s original theatrical gimmick: a special ‘Fright Break’ with posters warning patrons that “All those too timid to take the climax will be welcomed to a COWARD’S CORNER!” (no refunds for missing the ending!).

Three young girls make ‘crank’ calls, randomly dialling numbers from the phone book and whispering “I saw what you did… I know who you are” down the line. They put themselves in danger when they pick the wrong name and number, coincidentally calling a man just after he has murdered his wife. Believing he has been found out, the man tries to track down the callers to silence them. I SAW WHAT YOU DID brings Joan Crawford back to BAR TRASH in a supporting role and was originally released with a special ‘Shock Section’ to prevent timid audience members from being scared out of their seats (a DEEPLY SILLY gimmick we will recreate tonight!).

The history of film exhibition is a loud one, and the notion of the ‘silent film’ something of a misnomer. For this never-to-be-repeated silent horror double feature, cabaret artist and trained knife thrower Maxim Melton returns to BAR TRASH to provide an improvised live score for THE CABINET OF DR CALIGARI (1920). Then, esteemed stage and screen foley artist Ruth Sullivan will create live sound effects for the Buster Keaton short, THE HAUNTED HOUSE (1921) — all for £5 a ticket!

One of the most iconic films in cinema history, Robert Wiene’s Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari shook filmgoers worldwide and changed the direction of the art form. The film’s nightmarish sets and stark lighting influenced generations of filmmakers: you will have felt Dr. Caligari’s long shadow even if you haven’t actually seen the film. Experience this diabolical masterpiece with a new improvised live score by returning artist, Maxim Melton.

THE HAUNTED HOUSE is a two-reel silent short starring comic genius Buster Keaton aka “The Great Stone Face”. Written and directed by Keaton and Edward F. Cline, the film sees Keaton star as a hapless bank teller who, falsely accused of planning a robbery, takes refuge in a haunted house. Silent films were frequently presented with live music and sound effects, a theatrical gimmick we recreate with Ruth Sullivan who has more than 260 screen credits for creating practical sound effects for TV and film including THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH, 28 DAYS LATER, and URCHIN.

A full-day cinematic event celebrating the legacy of Bruce Lee.
The programme opens with the documentary LONGSTREET - A PHILOSOPHY IN MOTION, exploring Bruce Lee's involvement in the landmark series, followed by a screening of the original episode "THE WAY OF THE INTERCEPTING FIST."
This is followed by the premiere screening of the feature documentary BRUCE LEE: THE MAKING OF THE BIG BOSS.
The event concludes with a special presentation of THE BIG BOSS, screened from a DCP (Digital Cinema Package) of the original Mandarin version.
All screenings take place on a giant cinema screen for the ultimate big-screen experience, in a retro cinema setting inspired by the classic movie-going experience of the 1970s.
