Genesis presents Secrets, Mystery, Absurdity: The World of David Lynch, and one of his absolute essentials, Blue Velvet, introduced by Lindsay Hallam, author of Devil's Advocates - Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.

College student Jeffrey Beaumont returns home after his father has a stroke. When he discovers a severed ear in an abandoned field, Beaumont teams up with detective's daughter Sandy Williams to solve the mystery. They believe beautiful lounge singer Dorothy Vallens may be connected with the case, and Beaumont finds himself becoming drawn into her dark, twisted world, where he encounters sexually depraved psychopath Frank Booth.

Lindsay Hallam is a Senior Lecturer at the University of East London. She is the author of Screening the Marquis de Sade: Pleasure, Pain and the Transgressive Body in Film (2012) and director of the documentary Fridey at the Hydey (2013), as well as a contributor to a number of collections on film and film journals.
