Based on his book Film Marketing & Distribution: An Independent Filmmaker’s Guide, Jonathan Sadler takes filmmakers through the practical decisions that can help give an independent film the best possible chance of finding an audience — beginning long before the film is finished.

Rather than pursuing a single dream outcome, filmmakers will be encouraged to think in terms of an A, B and C plan: the ideal launch and distribution strategy, an achievable alternative, and a fallback route that still allows the film to reach an audience.
Jonathan will also draw on more than 30 years working in film marketing and distribution to discuss some of the common mistakes independent filmmakers make — from leaving marketing until the film is completed to misunderstanding their audience, targeting inappropriate festivals or creating materials that fail to communicate what is distinctive about their film.

On the night:
If pre sign-up slots are full, we may release a limited number of on-the-night slots, again first come, first served.
If you have a pre sign-up slot, please arrive by 7.00pm to keep it. Any unclaimed slots will be offered to poets on the reserve list. To keep things fair, if the slam has started and you haven’t checked in, you won’t be able to perform.

Derek Vineyard is paroled after serving 3 years in prison for killing two African-American men. Through his brother, Danny Vineyard's narration, we learn that before going to prison, Derek was a skinhead and the leader of a violent white supremacist gang that committed acts of racial crime throughout L.A. and his actions greatly influenced Danny. Reformed and fresh out of prison, Derek severs contact with the gang and becomes determined to keep Danny from going down the same violent path as he did. More Info

1 IN 2 follows Wilkinson through his own treatment, where he discovers a steep rise in bowel cancer among people far too young to be screened for it, and far too young, it seems, to be believed. Among those who tell him their stories is a bowel surgeon whose own symptoms were dismissed by her oncologist colleagues and in part by herself because she was only 44.
Bowel cancer is very insidious; it often strikes with few or no symptoms. One of the participants, an NHS nurse specialising in colonoscopies, had only one symptom: anxiety. 1 IN 2 attempts to flag up early signs, because the one thing no one wants is to end up like director David Nicholas Wilkinson, with stage 4 bowel cancer.
Released in the cinema as part of Maggie’s Cancer Centre 30th Anniversary celebrations. A significant percentage of the box office income will go directly to Maggie’s St Barts.
The screening is a tribute to Lisa Andrews-Dhapra, a bowel surgeon who trained at St Barts, where she was filmed for 1 IN 2, and died of bowel cancer in May, aged just 50.

dam, threatening to erase her homeland and ancestral burial grounds. Confronted with this
existential threat, Mantoa finds renewed purpose and becomes a symbol of resistance,
mobilising her community to fight for their land and heritage.
