Synopsis

Music and Movies is back this November with Aronofsky's The Wrestler starring an exceptional Mickey Rourke. The film will be introduced by a live set from Lorraine Wood & James Burton so make sure to be here on time.

Lorraine Wood hails from the Hackney of the 1970s. Her stripped-bare style is both fragile and forceful. She performs infrequently. She has been described by folk broadcaster Bob Meyer, as "maybe the best unrecorded / undiscovered female folk roots singer songwriter in the UK at the moment.

James is a London singer songwriter. He writes about the life he lives, the people he knows, the ones he loves and some he has lost. He is the founder of the Upstart Crow Festival - London’s first and finest singer songwriter Festival. He runs song writing workshops in London prison drug rehabilitation wings. He is writing a musical about something he hasn’t quite identified yet – but he will. He comes from the villages and farms of deepest Leicestershire where, as a kid, he would secretly watch wrestling on Saturday afternoons.

Aging wrestler Randy "The Ram" Robinson (Mickey Rourke) is long past his prime but still ready and rarin' to go on the pro-wrestling circuit. After a particularly brutal beating, however, Randy hangs up his tights, pursues a serious relationship with a long-in-the-tooth stripper (Marisa Tomei), and tries to reconnect with his estranged daughter (Evan Rachel Wood). But he can't resist the lure of the ring and readies himself for a comeback.

Please note that this event is FREE, however we'd recommend reserving your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.
