Prolific, radical, urgent. The work of downtown NYC writer, artist, photographer, and AIDS activist David Wojnarowicz pushed the expression of the community’s righteous anger within all art forms.

This stirring portrait of the ultimate outsider artist enlists other radical art world voices to tell the story of an artist working against the government in an era when ‘fags and dykes and junkies’ were expendable.

The film features a huge archive of journals, cassettes, photographs & super 8 film left behind after Wojnarowicz’s 1992 death, which make the personal even more political and incendiary. Rather than the positive pink washing of this era of queer activism, this film depicts the struggle of marginalised groups to survive the cruel state neglect of the time.
